Overview

Invested.fi, formerly known as Säästyri, is a Finnish gamified learning app designed to educate users about stock investing through engaging, intuitive, and hands-on experiences. This case study highlights my role in the UI design process that transformed Invested.fi into a user-friendly platform, driving significant engagement and learning outcomes.

Problem Statement: In Scandinavian countries, young adults lack reliable and safe resources to learn about stock markets and investing. Misconceptions about the risks of investing in stocks further deter participation.

Solution:Invested.fi aims to bridge this gap by providing a secure and engaging platform where users learn about stock markets through gamified investment experiences using real-time stock data.

Process

Approach

To create an engaging stock investment education app, we used a user-centered approach involving contextual inquiries and expert interviews with financial advisors and stock market analysts.

\We conducted competitive analysis to identify best practices in UI design. Through low-fidelity prototyping, we tested wireframes and user flows, gathering feedback via usability testing. Key iterations focused on improving navigation, enhancing gamification elements (leaderboards, progress tracking), and integrating real-time stock data. Iterative refinement ensured the app met user needs by simplifying navigation and prioritizing features that users found valuable.

Visual Design

Outcome

The app was launched initially in Finland. Upon commendable performance and success of the first product cycle, it was acquired and rebranded to Invested.fi

- Achieved a 70% increase in user engagement, with users spending more time on the app and participating in more learning activities.

-  Saw a 50% increase in user registrations within the first six months of rebranding to Invested.fi.

- Received a 4.7/5 average rating from users, reflecting high satisfaction with the app's  experience.
